The Method

THE BIA BODY 4 STEP ROUTINE

Get soft, glowing skin from head to toe in just 4 simple steps! Clear blemishes, smooth rough and dry skin, prevent ingrown hairs and reduce the signs of aging with our line of clinical body care.

Cleansing the skin should be the first step in any skincare routine. Cleansers purify our skin of excess oils, dead skin and every day pollutants to minimize pore congestion.

Cleansing should be done daily, ideally in the evening or after activities that can cause sweating (working out, or just being in the heat!)

Maintaining a regular cleansing schedule plays a larger role in hydration than you may have realized. Cleansing helps to balance the skin’s pH levels and supports the water and product retention.

Try BIA Clarifying Body Cleanser, it works to gently rinse away impurities without leaving skin feeling dry or stripped.

There is no point piling serums and creams onto a thick layer of dead skin cells- absorption rates will be minimal and your active ingredients will be much less effective. This is why you must exfoliate!

Exfoliants can come in physical and chemical versions, but both break down the barrier of dead skin cells and unclog pores.

Clearing away dead skin cells leaves fresh skin cells, which creates a more even skin tone and improves the appearance of dark spots, hyperpigmentation and acne scars. This also makes other skin treatments more effective by allowing them to penetrate deeper into the skin.

Exfoliation can also stimulate lymphatic drainage, blood cell circulation and collagen synthesis to nourish the skin’s surface, improving its appearance and reducing any signs of aging.

After cleansing try our BIA Body Polish, it contains ocean friendly sand derived silica beads and glycolic acid to loosen up and sweep away dead skin cells.

Use active ingredients to target specific concerns and problems like blemishes, keratosis pilaris (rough bumpy skin on the back of arms, top of thighs, and bum) ingrown hairs, uneven skin tone, fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage.

We recommend post shower or workout using our Exfoliating Treatment Mist. It uses active ingredients like glycolic acid to gently exfoliate dead surface skin cells to reduce the appearance of fine lines and sun damage, and salicylic acid to remove excess sebum to treat and prevent breakouts. It also includes moisture magnet, hyaluronic acid and skin soother allantoin.

(HYDRATE AND/OR LUBRICATE)

Whether you need hydration, lubrication or both depends on your skin type:

Hydrating products increase your skin cells water content. Look for ingredients that deliver water to the cells directly, like hyaluronic acid. If you have oily skin this is probably your best bet.

Lubrication (think shea butter, and oils) help to prevent trans-epidermal water loss—AKA moisture that evaporates from your skin to reenforce your skin’s barrier function. A well-functioning skin barrier is important for keeping bacteria and chemicals from entering the body and to keep moisture from leaving the skin. The amount of lubrication needed depends on the dryness of your skin with oilier types needing less.

Having adequately hydrated skin means it’s able to fight and flush out toxins more effectively because your cells are receiving what they need to function properly.

Keeping your skin hydrated also helps improve skin elasticity, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, and helps to prevent oiliness.

What if your skin is dehydrated and dry?

Use moisturizing and hydrating products together to fight both skin issues. Keep in mind the order you apply them matters. Apply lighter-weight hydrating products first—for instance, a serum, to deliver water to your cells, followed by a heavier lubricating oil/butter product afterward to lock it in.

Our Whipped Body Creme is good for all skin types and an easy way to get that dewy summer glow. It’s packed with essential fatty acids, antioxidants and caffeine to nourish skin while creating a toned appearance, and a hint of mica for a flawless finish.

For those with drier skin we recommend adding in our BIA Body Gloss, a nutrient rich oil based formula containing rosehip oil, vitamin E and shea butter extract.
